Presentation bookplates awarding diligent study with the seal of Harvard University in New England on the front pastedowns. The awardee is Roberto Lee Walker- most likely American physicist Robert Lee Walker 1919-2005 who matriculated at Harvard in 1937 and transferred a year later to the University of Chicago. After a brief time there as a graduate student he joined the Manhattan Project. He also worked at Los Alamos. After the war he continued his graduate work at Cornell earning his PhD in 1948. He joined the Caltech faculty in 1949 as assistant professor becoming associate professor in 1953 full professor in 1959 and emeritus professor in 1981. He died in Tesuque New Mexico. Newly edited with notes by Roger Ingpen. With 576 illustrations facsimiles and maps including 13 plates in photogravure. A handsome edition profusely illustrated of this famous biography.
