This is an early printing of the 11th volume of the classic monumental work by Hokusai 1760-1849 originally issued in 15 volumes between 1812-1878. The large range of content depicted in this volume includes evocative and engaging images ranging from artists animals mythical beasts sumo wrestlers farmers domestic scenes landscapes and weaponry including firearms. All images beautifully printed in b/w and hues of light pink. The introduction to this volume is by Ryutei Tanehiko 1783-1842 the acclaimed playwright many of whose works were originally illustrated by Hokusai.<br /> <br /> Text In Japanese.<br /> <br /> Wrappers with rubbing to extremities and with some small closed tears.
