Very Good /Very Good. 75pp. Octavo 23.5 cm Blue cloth over boards with gilt stamping with strips of minor fading to the edges. In the dust jacket with very subtle fading to the spine. "This suite of thirty poems is Neruda’s last love song to the Earth. 19626344Santiago de Chile: Orbe / Coleccion "El Viento en la Llama 1962. Later edition. Softcover. Very good/very good. 16mo 10cm x 14cm. A very good copy in the original cardstock wraps with dust jacket. Front inner hinge partly exposed but holding. Dust jacket age-toned and with a dampstain along the spine not affecting the interior. A cheaply produced volume and as such rather well-preserved. SIGNED by Neruda with a full-page inscription on the front free endpaper: "1965 A Westphallen un viejo libro con la amistad de toujours. Pablo Neruda." our translation: "1965 To Westphallen - an old book with everlasting friendship." Likely presented to someone with that surname possibly Peruvian artist Judith Westphalen different spelling is noted. Or the poet could be referring to the German region where he inscribed it. Though somewhat mysterious to us a question that might be cleared up by a Neruda scholar. We found no other signed copies of this important early work by Neruda first editions or reprints at the time of listing. This edition is also rather uncommon in commerce even unsigned.
