First Printing Fine in tan cloth covered boards with an illustrated paper label on the front board gilt on blue title block on the spine and end papers illustrated with running horses. The edges of the text block are stained dark blue. A small quarto of 9 1/4 by 6 3/8 inches Issued without a dust jacket however the book is contained within a near fine paper covered slip case with its paper label in place which shows hints of rubbing at the upper and lower edges. There is a very faint dampness stain to the top edge of the slipcase and to the upper side of the rear panel. The contents of the book are fine. 131 pages of text followed by a page of other books by Steinbeck. Illustrated from color paintings by Wesley Dennis.
