Sometimes referred to as a projectivist poet Potts was mentored by Edward Dorn and rose to literary prominence in Berkeley California where he founded the Litmus literary magazine and publishing company. He would later move to Walla Walla Washington where he founded The Temple bookstore Tsunami Publishing and The Temple Literary Magazine.
