Un des 100 exemplaires hors commerce sur papier vert. . « Front rouge » qui ouvre le recueil est paru en pré-originale à Moscou dans le numéro de 1931 de la revue Littérature de la Révolution mondiale : en raison de cette publication Aragon est officiellement inculpé « d'excitation de militaires à la désobéissance » et de « provocation au meurtre dans un but de propagande anarchiste ». Les surréalistes André Breton en tête organisent aussitôt sa défense. Dans une déclaration publique intitulée « L'Affaire Aragon » ils s'élèvent contre le principe de l'inculpation d'un poète pour ses écrits André Breton publiant par ailleurs Misère de la poésie afin de revendiquer l'autonomie du poète. Cependant Aragon ne se reconnaît pas dans le texte de Breton et lui signifie sa rupture dans L'Humanité du 10 mars 1932 tout en se voyant refuser son manuscrit chez Gallimard : Persécuté Persécuteur doit être publié aux Éditions surréalistes de Corti. Commentaire de l'intéressé : « Au XVIIe siècle on arrêtait les écrivains la censure saisissait les livres on devait se faire imprimer en Hollande. Nous en sommes là nous autres surréalistes mais on nous traite avec de nouvelles méthodes. » Complet de son erratum de la page 18. Full leather design binding with original wrappers bound in with cancel slip over publisher's imprint on the title page and upper cover of the original red paper wrapper. The work is a collection of poems by Louis Aragon published in 1931. A radical turning point in his career marking the end of his Surrealist phase and his full commitment to communist political engagement. The collection comprises thirteen long poems characterized by violent imagery and destruction. It opens with the well known and highly politicized poem Front rouge which calls for the violent overthrow of capitalism and celebrates proletarian revolution. A couple of pamphlets relating to "Front Rouge" are loosely inserted. Finely bound by Georges Leroux in full grey morocco with gilt spine lettering and thick sculpted black leather onlays depicting oppressive figures marked with red inlays to their heads above figures without red inlays. A striking design binding in fine condition. Housed in a red card chemise with a felt-lined interior together within a matching red card slipcase.
