Authors abstract: In our study we have collated a list of corresponding Yiddish and Polish proverbs, arranged by subject-matter and thus allowing the investigation of cultural influences between Jews and Poles. We have also analysed any language influences found in Polish and Yiddish proverbs - this section was intended as a contribution to broader linguistic research, which should also take into account the spoken language as well as Polish and Yiddish literature. As a result of a thorough study based on the corpus of proverbs examined we came forward with a new attempt at the definition of the proverb as well as at classification methods. We have also defined what equivalent (or corresponding) proverbs are. Further, we have analysed the corresponding Yiddish and Polish proverbs and established the areas of cultural influences, which are manifest in them. RARE mid-19th century of "Sefer Ikarim", a work by the 14th-century Jewish philosopher Joseph Albo, in which he lays out his claims against Christianity, and attempts to provide a simple, axiomatic basis of the Jewish faith. The book has been expanded and extensively annotated by the German rabbi Gedaliah Lipschitz. Endpapers and whitepage feature numerous names of previous owners, and their commentary. 180x130mm. Unpaginated. Black cloth Hardcover. Cover very worn, bumped and peeling. Cover edges and corners bumped. Spine and whitepage missing. Pen inscription on title page and on the shoulders of several pages. Few age-stains on some pages. Pages yellowing and slightly dog-eared. [SUMMARY]: Despite some external wear, the inside of the book is preserved very well; accordingly this extremely rare book is still in good reading condition.

Judah Leib Ben Zeev, a grammarian and lexicographer, was the first Jewish scholar to apply Western research methods to the study of Hebrew. Born near Cracow, Ben Zeev received a traditional Jewish education, but covertly, on his own, studied Hebrew philology and secular subjects. He belonged to the group of Polish-Jewish writers that published Ha-Meassef, a literary organ in the spirit of the early Hasklalah (Jewishvirtuallibrary.org 2017) .
