The author of this study of ancient Athenian law was a distinguished scholar correspondent with leading European men of letters and a friend of Selden Gessendi and Vossius. The work was reissued by K.A. Duker in 1740. This copy comes from the libraries of Nicolas-Joseph Foucault 1643-1721 and the Earls of Macclesfield. Foucault was an influential French civil servant and attorney. A dedicated bibliophile he amassed a vast private library and was an honorary member of the Academie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.
