23536Very good. Broadsheet undated but ca. 1915 based on contemporary newspaper ads. 20" x 7" printed in red and black on front and all black on verso. Horizontal folding creases otherwise very good. An attractive promotional piece issued by the New Home Land Company of Little Rock Arkansas and promoting excursion fares via the Missouri Pacific and Iron Mountain railroad and lands along the line of the Rock Island Railway Promotes Arkansas as "The Land of Homes" where "fertile soil long growing seasons and mild climate make prosperous farmers healthy families and happy homes." The text is targeted at midwesterners noting that "in Arkansas you can grow the same kind of crops and farm as you do in Missouri Iowa Illinois and Indiana" -- but with a longer growing season and at lower cost. The back includes detailed text relating to 15000 acres for sale near the new town of Sparkman along the Rock Island line. Not found in OCLC. unknown

1897019534No Place: No publisher 1897. Unbound. Good. 1897 Marksman Pin to Sergt Sergeant J.H. Mills. No producer or place. 1897 date inscribed on the reverse. Measures about 1 ½ inches tall by 1 inch wide. Safety pin style back. Three pieces attached by metal rings. Top two pieces are the same thin banner reading "marksman with the bottom piece being some sort of stylized cross formation with the date 1818 at the bottom and perhaps an ornate letter L on the other three points. Reverse has 1897 and Sergt J.H. Mills inscribed on it. No indication as to who issued this piece. GOOD condition metal with an overall dark patina with minor soiling and wear. No publisher unknown

Four-page printed circular 11.5" x 8.75" with photographic illustrations accompanied by a mimeographed letter on Brown's letterhead and original mailing envelope. Folding creases and light handling wear; very good. Brown's Business College was a chain of business colleges located in the Midwest started in Illinois in the 1870s by George W. Brown 1845-1918. Brown eventually grew the chain to at least 29 locations where students could expect to receive instruction in accounting business and office practice writing stenography and the elements of success in business generally. This four-page illustrated circular announces the opening of the Centralia Illinois location on September 5 1898. It offers a brief description of the town and notes that although it is smaller than other Browns' locations "its central location its easy access to all points of southern Illinois and the moderate prices of board for students give it an importance out of proportion to its immediate population." Inside is description of the benefits of business school the demand for graduates the course of study etc. Brown's Business College unknown

Probably a promotional book for fine dining silver. Includes full page illustrations of salad sets and bowls with catalog numbers presumably for sale by Gorham Silversmiths. Although this publisher Gorham MFG. was not found on OCLC Identical titles offered by 3 other establishments were found with 4 total holdings on OCLC. One other copy found within the trade. Uncommon. The original paper covers are heavily edge worn and the spine paper is mostly missing. A few pages are shadow toned. Otherwise a clean copy with sound binding. "Perhaps no company in the world extended the influence of tableware design more than Gorham founded in Providence in 1831. From a small silversmith shop that began by making handcrafted teaspoons Gorham grew to become the world's leading manufacturer in tableware design and production in its heyday.
