D. 1799" by Abraham Shoemaker with separate title page. Longworth 1765-1821 first published this register in 1796 and continued annually until 1817 after which it was published by Thomas Longworth through 1842. This register contains an extensive analysis of the commerce of America at the end of the eighteen century list of postal rates description of the major banks of the U.S. and lists of military membership etc. The directory in alphabetical order consists of 255 pages and is a list of residents of New York city their occupation and city address. An important and uncommon record of New York City at the end of the century. Error in paging: p. 259 misnumbered 239. Paper wraps worn and chipped lacking 1/2" by 1" at bottom corner of front cover.
