1877022972Boston: Albert J. Wright Printer. Very Good with No dust jacket as issued. 1877. First Edition. Hardcover. Four small tears to front free end paper where presumably glue from a bookplate on pastedown has seeped and then stuck the pastedown and ffep together. Tears occured when someone separated them. The tears don't affect the author's inscription although one does slightly affect where he has dated the page. The date is still there the small torn piece is still attached at the spine there is another same sized area not written on just below which is also still attached at the spine. ; Inscribed by Osborne to Hon. Julius Rockwell former U. S. Senator Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Mass. Superior Court Judge. Previous owner - Emery L. Frazier - signature and bookplate on front pastedown. Frazier was a Kentucky politician after a long career in law and politics was Secretary of the U. S. Senate. Within book is a 5 1/4" x 4" wide single sheet of note paper with heading at top of sheet reading "United States Senate - Memorandum" folded vertically someone had used as a bookmark. At upper left of copyright page is a mostly faint ink stamp "Dr. W. W. Rockwell July 12 1943". It's bled just a few small spots to opposite page Preface but above the text. Very bright covers and front cover gilt lettering spine lettering and eagle below is very bright also although spine cloth is a bit darkened compared to the blue of front and back covers; 393 pages; Signed by Author .
