Since this was printed just before the beginning of the Civil War it is NOT a Confederate imprint. "Third Thousand" per the title page. Softcover. Spine is cocked; foxed throughout with some dampstain at the foot yet text has been uncompromised. Curling at the corners with some soiling. Predominantly unmarked except for a previous owner's name "L. J. Lee" dated April 1861 in pencil on the front flyleaf and a couple of markings in the margin on page 65 looking as the soldier was graphing the instruction of "By platoons left wheel. MARCH." and "Forward. March" also in pencil. The wear and soiling invokes a wonder if L. J. Lee carried this handbook with him in battle during the Civil War and what this little book has seen. Jacquet / IIem artillerie .84", Très beau menu du dîner du 28 mars 1889 pour un banquet au IIe régiment d'Artillerie française et dessiné par Gustave Jacquet (1846 - 1909), peintre et illustrateur français reconnu pour ses portraits féminins et ses scènes de genre dans le goût du XVIIIe. Le Iie Régiment d'Artillerie fut créé en 1720 sous le nom de Régiment Royal d'Artillerie. Il participa aux principales guerres auquelles la France participa dont le Guerre d'Indépendance des Etats-Unis, la bataille des Pyramides et la Campagne de Russie sous Napoléon Premier, le Première et la seconde Guerre mondiale et plus récemment la guerre de Bosnie au sein de l'IFOR. Il fut dissolu en 1999. Il s'agit d'un papier épais d'époque avec un décor original de Jacquet imprimé, dessiné originèlement en 1884 en tirage "photogravure" limité exlusivement pour le 2e régiment d'Artillerie et représentant les différentes époques de l'histoire de ce régiment. Le contenu du repas est par contre écrit à la plume à l'encre noire le 28 mars 1889. Le menu se compose de 9 services sans les accompagnements des vins ! Très RARE Très bon état du carton malgré quelques petites rousseurs éparses et d'anciennes mouillures..

Envoyé extraordinaire (ambassadeur) du roi en Bavière dès 1714 et jusqu'en 1722. L.A.S., Munich, 10 juin 1718, 4p in-4. A un prince de la maison de Bavière, probablement Clément-Auguste de Bavière (1700-1761), à propos d'affaires d'argent et de sa probable place de coadjuteur de l'électeur de Cologne. Il ne semble pas que cette place fut donné ni à Clément-Auguste de Bavière ni à un autre prélat. Toutefois, il eut la place de prince-évêque de Münster peu après avant de devenir archevêque électeur de Cologne. Ecriture un peu éclaircie. [373]

O'Keefe 1207 says: "A regimental account that covers the third day at Gettysburg where the Michigan Cavalry led by General Custer fought off General J. E. B. Stuart and his Confederate Cavalry who were attempting to attack the rear of the Union line. The author served in F Company of the Seventh Regiment and was the regiment historian." Much information is provided on the officers of the regiment and their comments regarding battles and skirmishes. Signed twice in pencil on the front free fly leaf: "Compliments of Col. W. D. Mann. Mann was the colonel of the regiment and there is a photograph of him as the frontispiece. Also signed by William Covert who was a member of Company H 7th Michigan Cavalry and served in the regiment from Aug. 15 1864 to July 18 1865.
