General Rufus Dawes 1838-1899 who rose to command of the Iron Brigade during the Civil War. This regiment was composed of the 6th Wisconsin 7th Wisconsin 2nd Wisconsin 19th Indiana and later the 24th Michigan. The Iron Brigade fought in nearly all the great battles in the east that the Army of the Potomac was engaged in from Second Bull Run to the Petersburg campaign and had an instrumental roll at Gettysburg. Book consists of a funeral address by Rev. William Roe an address by one of Dawes' sons and an address by Dawes presented to the Society of the Army of the Tennessee in 1881.
