Hardcover decoritively blindstamped brown cloth with upper cover boldly lettered in gold. 79pp. Illustrated with frontispiece on heavy card stock with tissue guard present. First edition. A slim tall volume containing some of the eulogies delivered upon the death of Ambrose E. Burnside. Burnside was Rhode Island governor and a U.S. senator a railroad executive the first president of the National Rifle Association and a Civil War Union Army general. He wore his facial hair in a very distinctive style which is now referred to as sideburns inspired by his last name. After being defeated in the Battle of Fredericksburg and Battle of the Crater Burnside soon resigned from his position in 1865. He died on January 23rd 1882. Binding is tight all pages are firmly attached and covers and text are clean. . The covers and spine show only incidental rubbing with some fraying to the corners and spine ends. A remarkably well preserved copy of a fragile book of interest to both Civil War collectors and collectors of American political personalities. A very good copy. First Edition. Cloth. In 1918 the squadron was issued F.E.2b aircraft and transferred to Dunkirk as a night bomber unit operating mainly over Belgium. No marks in book binding tight. Although the goal of this report was to urge the state conventions of South Carolina Alabama Mississippi and Florida "that no final separate State action shall be taken upon the question of secession from the Union until a general Convention of the Southern States can be had" it was not received before South Carolina's withdrawal; therefore this pamphlet became South Carolina's attempt "briefly to state the causes which induced the passage of the Ordinance" to Georgians. Fort Pillow report is 128 pages; Returned Prisoners report is 34 pages plus 4 pages of plates with photographs of 2 returned prisoners on each page.
