En 1933 después de la caída de Machado se traslada a Nueva York y después a Gainesville Florida donde culmina su obra La expansión territorial de los Estados Unidos a expensas de España y de los países hispanoamericanos. Más tarde regresa a Cuba y en 1939 se desempeña como asesor técnico de la delegación cubana a la primera reunión de consulta de cancilleres de las Repúblicas americanas efectuada en Panamá.Entre 1943 y 1946 fue director del prestigioso y popular Diario de la Marina. Ingresó en la Academia de Historia en 1949 e intervino como uno de los autores y redactores del primer libro completo de historia de Cuba Historia de la Nación Cubana escrita en colaboración con Emeterio Santovenia José M. Pérez Cabrera y Juan J. Remos obra monumental en diez tomos editada en 1952 para conmemorar el cincuentenario del establecimiento de la República de Cuba y traducida al inglés. The M1903 Springfield formally the United States Rifle Caliber .30-06 Model 1903 is an American five-round magazine fed bolt-action service repeating rifle used primarily during the first half of the 20th century. It was officially adopted as a United States military bolt-action rifle on June 19 1903 and saw service in World War I. It was officially replaced as the standard infantry rifle by the faster-firing semi-automatic eight-round M1 Garand starting in 1936. The M1903 Springfield remained in service as a standard issue infantry rifle during World War II since the U.S. entered the war without sufficient M1 rifles for all troops. It also remained in service as a sniper rifle during World War II the Korean War and even in the early stages of the Vietnam War. It remains popular as a civilian firearm historical collector's piece a competitive shooting rifle and as a military drill rifle.
