(ca. 47 x 32 cm). 4 S. Original-Zeitung, mittig gefaltet, mit Deckeltitel. (= Göttinger Zeitung: Beilage Kriegshilfsdienst, Weihnachten 1915). Zeitung etwas gebräunt und gerändert, altersentsprechend gut erhalten. Die historische Beilage zur "Göttinger Zeitung" vom Weihnachtsfest 1915 verzeichnet zunächst auf etwa 2,5 Seiten die Spenden aus der Bevölkerung für den Vaterländischen Kriegshilfsdienst. Hier ist dicht geschrieben und genau verzeichnet, wer mit welcher Summe und aus welchem Beruf heraus gespendet hat - aufgeteilt nach den jeweiligen Zahlstellen in Göttingen (Stadtkämmerei, Weinhandlung Bremer, Zigarrenhandlung Krausbauer etc.). Infolge werden kurz die bisherigen Spenden zur "Nationalstiftung für die Hinterbliebenen der im Kriege Gefallenen" aufgelistet (Datum 24.12.1915). Auf der vierten Seite ist ein längerer Text des Kriegshilfsdienstes selbst zu lesen - über aktuelle Vorgänge und Erreichtes sowie zu kommenden Aufgaben, denn der Krieg währte ab Dezember 1915 ja noch weitere zweieinhalb Jahre. Sehr interessant ist eine fast halbseitige Danksagung des Infanterie-Regiments Nr. 82 (die sogenannten "82er") an den Magistrat der Stadt Göttingen für die zum Weihnachtsfest 1915 übersandten Gaben. Hier heißt es: "Göttingen hat uns durch seine Liebesgabentätigkeit neuen Mut und neue Kraft zu neuen Taten gegeben", zuvor bereits ist zu lesen: "Die Stadt Göttingen wolle versichert sein, daß durch die herrlichen Gaben dem Regiment große Freude wiederfahren ist und jeder 82er von dem Gedanken durchdrungen ist, so wie Göttingen hat wohl kaum eine andere Stadt für ihren Truppenteil gesorgt". (ca. 38 x 24 cm). 1 Blatt einseitig bedruckt als Kleinplakat. Original-Zeitungsformat (etwas kleiner), mittig gefaltet, mit Deckeltitel. (= Göttinger Zeitung: Extrablatt, August 1914). Papier leicht gebräunt und gerändert, altersentsprechend gut erhalten. Das Extrablatt der "Göttinger Zeitung" berichtet zunächst vom Geschehen international (Russische Truppen an Grenze, Mobilisierung Frankreich) und in Berlin (Einberufung Reichstag). Infolge wird mit großem Pathos von der Rede des Kaisers am Berliner Schloßfenster gesprochen. Es lautet in der zitierten Rede: "Wenn es zum Kampfe komme, höre jede Partei auf. Wir seien nur noch deutsche Brüder". Im Artikel heißt es hierzu infolge: "Der Rede folgte unbeschreiblicher Jubel. Die Menge sang die 'Wacht am Rhein'". Sehr interessant ist auch der abgedruckte "Sonderzug-Fahrplan". Hier sind bereits sämtliche Zugabfahrtszeiten im Bereich Göttingen und Umgebung für die Einberufenen genau fixiert. Es wurde differenziert in die verschiedenen Mobilmachungstage. Eine Rubrik zum Beispiel listet Züge am 1. Mobilmachungstag für einberufene Männer nach Wilhelmshaven, Cuxhaven, Minden etc. auf. Eine weitere nennt bereits die Abfahrtzeiten der Sonderzüge am 3., 4. und 5. Mobilmachungstag nach Braunschweig. Die "Göttinger Zeitung" war zu dieser Zeit Haupt-Anzeigeblatt für die Region, offizielle Bekanntmachungen erschienen hier zuerst und teils auch ausschließlich. Das Extrablatt lag sehr wahrscheinlich der regulären Zeitung bei oder wurde zeitungsunabhängig der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Seltene Archivalie aus den ersten Tagen des Ersten Weltkriegs!
Gr. 8°. (23,5 x 18,4 cm). 541 S. (Fraktur). Original-Leinen mit silbergeprägtem Rücken- und Deckeltitel. Einband etwas fleckig und an Kanten und Kapitalen etwas berieben. Rücken etwas aufgehellt und leicht wellig. Innen Papier teils stockfleckig und Bindung etwas gelockert, sonst gut erhalten. Altersentsprechend noch guter Zustand. Die Publikation enthält zahlreiche fotografische Abbildungen und im Anhang die beiliegende Broschur "Kartenskizzen zur Kriegsgeschichte des Posenschen Pionier-Bataillons Nr. 29" (1931).

Fifth Division almost certainly holds the record as the most travelled British formation of WWII. Starting from its pre-war Northern Command base at Catterick it served in Norway, Belgium, France, Northern Ireland, Madagascar, India, Persia, Sicily, Italy and Palestine. The division finished the war in Germany where it become a key component of BAOR.

One of the most detailed WWI British divisional histories, well illustrated with both photographs and maps. 'Those who served for any length of time in France will recall that the 47th Division always ranked very high among British troops' (Falls). The 47th was the first Territorial division to be engaged as a formation on the Western Front; it served at Festubert, Loos, the Somme, Messines, Cambrai and in the fiercest actions of 1918. Published to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary, this is the finest overall treatment of the airborne battle (Operation MARKET). It is Middlebrook at his best, painstakingly combining many valuable vernacular accounts with a characteristically well-researched view of the background. Note that it does not cover the ground forces making their way towards Arnhem (Operation GARDEN). A beautiful copy of a superb tribute.

A rare momento of the original Redipuglia War Cemetery housing 30,000 graves of soldiers of the Italian Third Army killed between 1915 and 1917. The original cemetery is now replaced by the Redipuglia War Memorial, inaugurated in 1938 in the presence of Mussolini. It is the largest war memorial in Italy with over 100,000 graves (including those of the original interment). A RARE SURVIVAL FROM THE GREAT WAR IN ITALY.
