The author's account of his capture at the fall of Hong Hong, his escape to mainland China and his eventual pick-up by 204 Military Mission, an Anglo-Australian guerrilla unit based on Chungking and training Chinese Nationalists.

Striking wrapper artwork by Ley Kenyon (illustrator of Brickhill's 'The Great Escape). Captured in Greece during the evacuation, Driver Francis Jones spent the remainder of the war in a series of escape attempts covering Greece, the Greek Islands, Italy and Germany. A lone escaper with no 'X' or escape committee for support, his experiences against impossible odds makes an 'other ranks' escape story with a difference.

Durante la II guerra mondiale la Terza Divisione dell'esercito americano fu in Europa per trenta mesi partecipando a 553 giorni di combattimento. Durante la battaglia di Anzio, 995 furono gli uomini uccisi o feriti, il piu' alto numero di vittime all'interno di una singola divisione cadute in un solo giorno (23 maggio 1944).
