First Edition and extremely rare Baku imprint of Karabekir's book including his advices to children printed in Baku in the same year when the Red Army captured Azerbaijan. Printing types are peculiar to the Caucasus imprints. The author wrote this book in his own words to teach children "the first facts of life". Kâzim Karabekir Pasha who took care of thousands of children who lost their parents during the First World War is a statesman and soldier who was also closely interested in the education of these children. "My Advice" book purposes to reach teachers and parents as well as primary and secondary school students. The rights and wrongs that every child should know about life are explained in a sweet way. The book contains more than a hundred moral and other advices on issues such as the importance of being friendly how to spend money hospitality rules spies paying attention to cleanliness helping each other and respecting elders. Musa Kazim Karabekir Pasha was a Turkish general and politician. He was the commander of the Eastern Army of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I and served as Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey before his death. Karabekir was appointed commander of the 2nd Corps on the Caucasian front Erzurum Kars and Baku and fought bitterly against the Russian and Armenian forces for almost ten months. Thick folio a splendid copy with generous margins on large paper in a fine period binding of crimson straight-grained morocco all edges gilt sides panelled in gilt with greek key borders spine panelled in gilt with green leather label. <p><p>A magnificent copy of an officer's vade-mecum the who's who of the British army at a moment in time and as the entire list of British Army officers in 1807 the crucial bible for issues of promotion and preferment as well as location and secondment. This issue is of note for including a breakdown of the officers of the New South Wales Corps p. 311 serving under Colonel Francis Grose the roll call of familiar names beginning with Grose Paterson Foveaux and Johnstone spelled thus.</p> <p>Such publications were sometimes bound in magnificent style as here but do not often survive in this sort of perfect condition.</p> </p> . 1799183026London: War-Office 1st March 1799. Late 18th-century edition in an attractive binding. Army lists were published annually by the War Office between 1754 and 1879 giving the names of officers and their dates of commission. The fore-edge painting executed at a later date shows Broadway and New York City Hall based on an etching by Carl Fredrik Akrell after a drawing by Baron Axel Leonard Klinckowström. Provenance: Alexander Adair d.1834 with his armorial bookplate. Adair was the great grandson of Sir Robert Adair of Ballymena and inherited the family estate at Flixton Hall in 1783. In 1805 he raised and commanded the 9th Troop of Suffolk Yeomanry. One "Mr Adair" army agent at Pall Mall is listed on Page 73. The same page features numerous ink corrections to the list.
