An exceptionally scarce programme for the operatic performance of 'Billee Taylor' a nautical comic opera first performed at the Imperial Theatre on Saturday October 30th 1880 at 8pm.Written by Edward Solomon with a libretto by H. P. Stevens this initial performance starred Phillip Day Furneaux Cook and J. A. Arnold among others and was produced under the direction of Charles Harris. It subsequently played at the Standard Theatre in New York the following year. With the original advertisements to the rear including for Oysters 'Zoedone' a non-alcoholic champagne and for various other performances. Bound in the publisher's original wraps.
