Frank 1768-1840 promovierte 1792 in Wien. Sein vorliegendes Werk ist ganz auf den Brownianismus ausgerichtet der zu dieser Zeit in Deutschland sehr großes Aufsehen erregt hatte. Dieser großzügig illustrierte diagnostische Hautatlas ist nicht wie sonst üblich systematisch geordnet sondern nach den äußeren Merkmalen der Krankheitsbilder in der alten Ordnung von Kopf zu Fuß. Meist sind bilder verschiedener aber ähnlich gleich lokalisierten Krankheiten auf einer Seite gegenübergestellt. Bei den Bilder handelt es sich vorwiegend um künstlerisch gestaltete Aquarelle nebst Fotos's und Moulagen. Der künstlerisch veranlagte und mit einem ausgesprochenen Zeichentalent begabte Salomon Ehrmannn 1854-1926 war Schüler von E. Brücke. Später wurde er Assistent von I. Neumann am Allg. Krankenhaus in Wien und habilitierte sich 1887 für Dermatologie und Syphilis. Besondere Verdienste erwarb er sich auf dem Gebiete der dermatologischen Histologie und Therapie für die er die Methoden der Lichtbehandlung anwandte.
