An almanac advertising Burdock Blood Bitters with the standard calendars ephemeris testimonials and advertisements for other related products including "Dr. Fowler's Extract of Wild Strawberries". With remarkable duo-tone lithograph wrappers depicting an image of an older man with a collared shirt and bald pate and bursting through the paper a young child. "At three years and at sixty" it says. "Compliments of your druggist. H.L. Pierce & Son Cavendish Vt." is printed not stamped on the rear wrapper panel. With the small ownership stamp "Chas. W. Whitcomb" at top edge of rear panel. A bit of crease to bottom right corner of rear wrapper and a few prior leaves. Very good or better. Foster Milburn & Co.; [G.H. Dunston Lith.] unknown

Previous issues of the almanac used New York in the title as here but the apothecary was located across the Hudson in Jersey City. Testimonials sprinkled throughout the selection of recipes. The one from the 1830;s and 1840's are now quite uncommon. <br /> <br /> The Quebec Almanac. Quebec 1780-1841. T.P.L. 707. Gagnon I-96. All volumes have sections in English and in French.
