The work is housed in the original matching slipcase. With the coat of arms of the Dutch Kingdom on the title page and a folding engraved hand-coloured map of the Dutch Kingdom in a roundel by Basnel & son with a list of all the provinces of the Kingdom with the numbers of their populations and distances from Amsterdam The Hague and Brussels. 84 192 55 1 pp. Rare official almanac of the Kingdom of the Netherlands printed by the "imprimeur et libraire de Sa Majesté" for the year 1819 in French one of the two official languages of the country at the time. Apart from the parts usually present in almanacs calendar eclipses postal rates coins etc. the Calendrier Royal contains a complete overview of the members of the royal family the official functions of the court and the civil service of the Dutch Kingdom the government and the Dutch ambasasdors in other countries with the names of all the officials and office holders. We have not been able to find the present edition anywhere else.With contemporary annotations in the back mostly a list of names and an annotation on the first free flyleaf suggesting that the present copy was owned by Baron Constant Rebecque paymaster whose name has been marked on p. 148. The spine is gone and has been repaired with a strip of red paper which is partially detached the edges and corners of the boards of both the book and slipcase are scuffed. A fresh copy of the long-running Paris almanac known as the Etrennes Mignonnes published with changing subtitles from 1716 to ca. 1845. The engraved title and frontispiece varied from year to year up to 1750 after which none were used and the map alternated between an ecclesiastical civil or military map of France or a map of the Paris region. Die Erstausgabe von "The Nautical Almanac and Astronomical Ephemeris" erfolgte für das Jahr 1767 in England, das amerikanische Pendant "The American Ephemeris and Nautical Almanac" wurde erstmals für das Jahr 1855 herausgegeben. Die britische Ausgabe erschien unverändert bis 1959 und wurde dann in "The Astronomical Ephemeris" umbenannt. Von 1981 an erscheinen britische und amerikanische Ausgabe gemeinsam unter dem Titel "The Astronomical Almanac".

These little books continued to be referred to as "Collombats" long after the printer's death when their publication was continued by the printer Hérissant and later his widow. The remaining text contains information of interest to the Court: lists of officials and their various charges births and deaths throughout the European royal families prominent members of the clergy etc. At the end are tables of practical information: a table of proper expenses for various annual incomes from 10 to 100000 livres the age of the world or a table of wine prices by muid an ancient unit of measure used for liquids and grains. <br /> <br /> These almanacs were used by virtually all courtiers and ladies at Court and the bindings and cover materials reflected their owners’ ranks. The present pretty gold-blocked covers of fine material but relatively simple to produce and probably commissioned by the publishers would have been considered appropriate for an official or lady of relatively low standing. <br /> <br /> Cf.
