Encuadernación original en tela clara, con tejuelos en piel. En opinión de Martin Hume, el anónimo autor de la obra fue el turiasonense Antonio de Guaras. Llegado muy joven a Inglaterra, se convirtió en un mercader influyente. A instancia de William Cecil haría las funciones de embajador interino del rey Felipe II ante Isabel I en Inglaterra. Su reconocido prestigio como interlocutor entre las dos potencias se plasmó en su participación en el restablecimiento del comercio entre Inglaterra y España mediante los tratados de Nimega (1573) y de Bristol (1574) o en el envío de un embajador por parte de Inglaterra a España en la persona de lord Henry Cobham, lo que propició un clima de mayor entendimiento. No obstante, su apoyo a Don Juan de Austria y a María Estuardo le llevaría a la Torre de Londres en 1577, siendo liberado en 1579 y expulsado del país. Se cree que regresó a Tarazona donde murió.
