Questo volume e i due che lo accompagnano contengono i testi scritti da Dante Corneli dopo il suo ritorno dalla Russia e dal Gulag. Essi furono autoprodotti e stampati in tipografie della zona di Tivoli, per essere messi in vendita presso edicole locali di giornali e tramite invii postali. Gli originali da noi utilizzati (tranne i quattro volumetti fornitici dalla Biblioteca comunale di Vicovaro tramite la Biblioteca comunale di Bolsena - a entrambe le quali vanno i nostri più vivi ringraziamenti) furono donati personalmente da Dante ad Antonella Marazzi e a Roberto Massari negli anni '70, all'epoca della loro frequentazione a Roma e a Tivoli. II lettore dovrà tener presente che Dante ebbe origini operaie, che non poté proseguire gli studi, che la sua formazione avvenne in gran parte nelle scuole di partito e che trascorse la maggior parte della propria vita in Russia (dentro e fuori il Gulag): un vero e proprio autodidatta bilingue. Ciò si riflette nel ricorso a determinate formule linguistiche, nella discontinuità dei criteri grammaticali, nell'uso improprio di maiuscole e minuscole, nella traslitterazione approssimativa di nomi e termini russi (che invece divenne rigorosamente scientifica negli ultimi volumetti, ad opera evidentemente di altra persona). Tra noi redattori dei tre volumi in cui è raccolta l'opera storico-politica di Corneli (Andrea Furlan, Antonella Marazzi e Roberto Massari) abbiamo discusso su come procedere. Alla fine è prevalsa la decisione di lasciare il testo il più possibile intatto, limitando le correzioni ai più evidenti errori grammaticali, tipografici a di punteggiatura, e mantenendo in gran parte inalterato l'uso incoerente di virgolette e corsivi, di maiuscole e minuscole. In particolare sono stati lasciati come nell'originale (tranne per gli errori troppo evidenti) i nomi di persone, riviste, luoghi, vocaboli russi (questi usati spesso in versione dialettale). Ci è sembrato, infatti, che avrebbe avuto un sapore artificiale e anacronistico dar loro la forma esatta corrente o, per i nomi russi, ricorrere alla traslitterazione scientifica. Questa, invece, è stata da noi utilizzata nell'Indice dei nomi. Abbiamo fatto eccezione solo per la grafia del nome Trotsky che, come i nostri lettori sanno, dovrebbe essere scritto sempre in questo modo sia per criteri editoriali sia perché egli stesso chiese che così fosse. Issues 1-13, 15-25 with supplements for 17, 12 and 21 as well as a broadsheet on May Day (International Workers' Day) . Title translates to English as, "Truth: Labor Newspaper. " The original Pravda was founded in 1905 by Spilka, a breakaway party from the Revolutionary Ukrainian Party. In October 1908 Leon Trotsky was called in to edit the newspaper and pick it up from its insignificant and run down state. After several issues, the Spilka left the newspaper to Trotsky the subtitle "Organ Ukrainskago Soyuza 'Spilki' [Organ of the Ukrainian Union 'Spilka'] appears only on the first two issues who converted it into a Russian social democratic newspaper aimed at Russian workers. The editorial staff consisted of Trotsky and, at various times, Victor Kopp, Adolf Joffe and Matvey Skobelev, who tried to avoid the factional issues that divided Russian émigrés and concentrated on the issues of interest to Russian workers. The newspaper published its last issue on April 23, 1912.
