According to Shaw Mallock believes that inventors and other people of exceptional ability have no reason to share their earnings with others. Mallock in letters to newspapers reprinted here says he doesn't make any such contention in his writings giving Shaw the opportunity to attack him further. Fabian Tract No. 146. 8vo 8 1/2 inches / 21 1/2 cm 23 1 pages in stapled red wrappers. Photographic portrait of Shaw by Marie Leon. Wrappers are rather brittle and age-toned front cover loose but still holding. Small split at the head of the spine and several nicks and tears to the covers especially the rear cover. Vertical crease throughout. Although this pamphlet has been reprinted several times and in different formats copies of this first edition are uncommon to the market. Very Good Turkish Paperback. Cr. 8vo. (20 x 14 cm). In Turkish. 63, [1] p., 3 unnumbered b/w plates. This is one of the early books on May 1 in Turkey printed by the Turkish Revolutionary Workers' Confederation of Trade Unions. Cover art illustrated by Turkish painter Orhan Taylan, (1941-). In the Ottoman Empire, the first celebration of Labour Day was organized in Skopje in 1909. In Istanbul, Labour Day was first celebrated in 1912. No celebrations could be organized between 1928 and 1975. On 1 May 1976 the Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions of Turkey (DISK) organized a rally on Taksim Square with mass participation one year ago "Bloody First May" which was an attack on leftist demonstrators on 1 May 1977 (International Workers' Day) in Taksim Square, Istanbul, Turkey. This booklet was printed for the commemoration of this celebration. Orhan Taylan was born in Samsun, to an artist mother in 1941. Graduated from Robert College (1960) and the Fine Arts Academy of Rome (1965). First solo painting exhibition in 1968. Took leading positions in artists' organizations (1975-1978). Organized mural painting symposiums and executed several murals (1976-80). His paintings were exhibited in London, Amsterdam, and Moscow within Turkish Highlights exhibitions between 1988 and 1990. Aside from regular exhibitions in Istanbul and Ankara, his works were also shown in solo gallery exhibitions in Paris, New York, Geneva, and Athens. Orhan Taylan exhibits mainly figurative oil paintings, and occasionally metal sculptures and drawings. Lives and works in Istanbul. During the 1971 Military coup, taken in custody on summer midnight together with his wife and cartoonist Tan Oral. All his archives and hundreds of books destroyed. 1977 Group exhibitions in Paris and Berlin. The May 1 poster wins 1st prize in the International Poster Competition of the World Federation of Trade Unions, Prag. (Source: Turkish Painting - Visual Art Encyclopedia). This is the first appearance of this art before it's winning the prize in 1977. Rare.

EXTREMELY RARE single volume containing the first 31 issues of the periodical published by "Hapoel Hatzair", a Zionist labor movement, after resuming publication at the end of the first World War. The periodical features political articles, descriptions of scenes and individuals in Palestine, and works of literature and literary criticism by contemporary Hebrew authors. 290x230mm. 252 pages (32+24+28+22+36+28+20+18+20+28+20+32+20+28+24+18+36+20+20+24+27). Black quarter-cloth Hardcover. Cover stained, worn and bumped. Cover edges and corners bumped. Sticker and pen inscription on spine. Spine stained. Spine peeling near bottom-left hinge. [SUMMARY]: This rare collection of a Zionist labor movement periodical offering a rare glimpse into the life of the Jews in Palestine at the end of WW1, has sustained some damage to its cover, but is in good reading condition.

Karadeniz was a student leader of the late 1960s generation in Turkey and the chair of the Student Union of Istanbul Technical University. Together with other prominent student leaders such as Deniz Gezmis, he was one of the student leaders who organized the famous 1968 protest against the American Navy's Sixth Fleet arriving at the Port of Istanbul, although he was initially against protesting at the docks themselves. Karadeniz suffered cancer when he was in detention after the 1971 military coup in Turkey. He was not allowed medical treatment during his imprisonment, which eventually led to the spread of the cancer. Despite medical treatment in London, he died at age 33. In this book, he has tried to adapt Brecht's socialist method to the society in Turkey. Title means 'Capitalists without capital'. OCLC has late editions, not this edition. Extremely rare.

First Turkish edition of the "Chinese War of Independence" written by Mao Zedong in 1936 during the war with the Kuomintang and Japan. It was translated by Ahmet Angin (1919-1977) from the French text. This translation was published by Bülent Habora (1940-2014) (the owner of Habora Publishing House). Habora left his studies at Ankara University, Faculty of Law and worked as a journalist and publisher. He managed Habora Publishing House, which he founded (1966-95). OCLC 62124547.

First Turkish translation of "On New Democracy" by Mao Zedong, translated from French edition titled "La Democracy nouvelle", examining the way the Chinese revolution should go according to the internal and external conditions of the Chinese society. Mao wrote that the historical course of the Chinese revolution included two phases: the first phase being the democratic revolution and the second one being the socialist revolution, and these phases should follow each other. This theory has been accepted among the Turkish Maoists and constantly expressed and emphasized. Four paper copies in OCLC 943650048, 27993188 (Two are in Turkish institutes, one in International Institute of Social History (IISG) of Netherlands, one in UC Berkeley Libraries of USA).

The cover depicts when Mao Zedong inspects the 8th Route Army units in Yan'an during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945) (known in China as the "War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression").
