"Un paese", concepito nel 1952 da Cesare Zavattini e da Paul Strand, ha visto la pubblicazione nell'aprile del 1955 per l'editore Einaudi ed è stato tra i primi fotolibri italiani a poter essere ritenuto tale per l'intento progettuale in relazione al testo e alle immagini grazie all'accuratezza della grafica e della realizzazione, oltre che per il valore poetico e descrittivo. È stato considerato, e continua tutt'oggi a esserlo, uno dei classici della storia della fotografia. La critica ha definito "Un paese" un prezioso documento perché ha inaugurato una nuova modalità d'indagine e ricerca, aprendo inediti orizzonti sull'Italia minore del dopoguerra, storie raccontate dalla voce di un figlio di quella terra divenuto ormai celebre scrittore, sceneggiatore e regista di fama internazionale, indagate e descritte dallo sguardo di uno dei maggiori fotografi americani allora viventi. Allo stesso tempo il libro esamina il passato, quello della tradizione contadina, in particolare di Luzzara e della pianura Padana, in stretta relazione con la modernità, creando un dialogo tra passato e presente. Il volume ripropone le immagini di quel lavoro, affiancandole agli scatti di Gianni Berengo Gardin - che insieme a Zavattini realizza "Un paese" vent'anni dopo nel 1976 - Luigi Ghirri, Stephen Shore, Olivo Barbieri fino alla ricerca artistica di Claudio Parmiggiani, a dimostrare come "Un paese" sia stato fonte di ispirazione per diversi autori, fotografi, scrittori e artisti.

PARIS, Albert Savine, 1892 - In-12° - E.O. - Broché - Bien complet du plan dépliant de la place de l'Eglise - 202 pages - Très propre. Vielle cité industrielle du Nord de la France, la ville de Fourmies a atteint son apogée industrielle et démographique à la fin du XIXème siècle grâce au textile. Elle compte alors 15 000 habitants, en majorité des ouvriers. Sa distance la séparant de Paris, nest que de 200 km. A plusieurs reprises, des grèves ont éclaté surtout le 1er Mai. La fusillade de Fourmies s'est déroulée le 1er mai 1891. La troupe tire sur des grévistes pacifiques tuant neuf personnes et faisant au moins 35 blessés. ------- Édouard Drumont, né à Paris le 3 mai 1844 et décédé dans la même ville le 3 février 1917, était un journaliste et écrivain catholique, antisémite et nationaliste français. Charles Maurras, dans son Dictionnaire politique et critique, dit que « la formule nationaliste est ainsi née presque toute entière de lui ; et Daudet, Barrès, nous tous, avons commencé notre ouvrage dans sa lumière. » Plus loin, Charles Maurras ajoute : « Chroniqueur merveilleux, historien voyant et prophète, cet esprit original et libre s'échappait aussi à lui-même. Il ne vit point tout son succès. » Édouard Drumont a été classé par certains comme anarchiste de droite, bien que son attitude vis-à-vis de l'anarchisme ait été ambivalente.

Maria Bianca Viviani della Robbia scrisse e pubblicò i suoi racconti sulla «Rassegna Contemporanea» e sulla «Rassegna Nazionale». Il 18 settembre 1909 si abbona al Gabinetto Vieusseux e dall’amicizia con Laura e Angiolo Orvieto scaturirà la collaborazione col «Marzocco» dal 1916 al 1932, con lo pseudonimo di Bianca Maria. La sua attnzione per gli aspetti sociali della campagna toscana la portarono a studiare profondamente la vita dei contadini e le problematiche in essa presenti. Questa volume, è una descrizione autobiografica romanzata delle campagne del chianti (fra San Leolino, Panzano in Chianti, Greve In Chianti), delle usanze folkloristiche e dei personaggi che in essa vivono. CURIOSO.
