Nelson appealed his conviction to the United States Supreme Court which held that federal law the Smith Act the Internal Security Act and the Communist Control Act had superseded and thus rendered void all State laws on the subject of subversion and sedition. See Pennsylvania v. Nelson 350 U.S. 497 1956.<br/> The amici were individuals who like Nelson had been convicted of violating similar State laws in Kentucky Massachusetts New Hampshire and Florida. Donner's brief on their behalf is an illuminating description of America's response to Communist subversion whether real or imaginary in the decade after the end of World War II. An unrecorded Michigan newspaper produced briefly we assume by the Muskegon Unemployed Council. In addition to exposing corruption and mismanagement within Muskegon's municipal government the paper makes repeated invitations to unemployed workers to join the Communist Party and read the Daily Worker suggesting the Unemployed Council was if not an official CP front then at least heavily infiltrated by CP members and fellow travelers. This issue includes coverage of the Ford Hunger March in which 5 protesting workers were shot to death by Ford Company guards outside the gates of the River Rouge Plant.<br/><br/>Rare; we find no examples in the trade July 2015 with one location only in OCLC Library of Michigan; not found in the North American Union List of Serials 1939 ed. According to Shaw Mallock believes that inventors and other people of exceptional ability have no reason to share their earnings with others. Mallock in letters to newspapers reprinted here says he doesn't make any such contention in his writings giving Shaw the opportunity to attack him further. Fabian Tract No. 146. Although this pamphlet has been reprinted several times and in different formats copies of this first edition are uncommon to the market. An interesting insight into West Germany's growing alarm about the tide of refugees from the GDR. The Communist regime of course would build the Wall less than three years later.
