034070UK Painting. Very Good. Framed. 5 x 6 cm. A fine miniature watercolour illustration of a Lime Hawk-Moth signed bottom left. The image size is 52 x 62 mm mounted framed and glazed frame approx. 260 x 260 mm. An unusual composition with the moth resting on a branch of a lime tree highlighted against a starry night sky with a silhouette of a hedgerow just discernible. As with all Chris Shield's entomological studies it is painted in great detail with an emphasis on anatomical accuracy; almost certainly a watercolour commissioned for an illustration in a publication. In very good condition unmarked and appears unfaded. A very well executed attractive study.
