First published in 1886 this scarce pamphlet describes the principal routes into Yosemite Valley offers a table of distances between points of interest and provides useful information for campers including a list of items with prices for sale at the valley General Store and rates for rental of saddle horses and carriages. Of less practical use to the traveler but interesting for the reader are detailed tables showing the number of visitors to Yosemite in 1883 1884 and 1885 broken down by state or country of origin and month of visit. Consequently these invitations display a wide range of handset foundry typefaces designed not only to be sparkling works but to spark typographic conversations." While this collection is a long way from being complete and many as yet undetermined as to printer or press this offering of 125 is by far the largest group of such invitations ever to come on the market. Early volumes booklets with stapled bindings spiral-bound from Vol. 33 forward. Vols. I-3 issued in 3 issues each all others issued as single annual volume. Vol. I is here given in photocopied form all other volumes original. Vol. XLVIX 49 mislabeled as XLVIV 44. The first several volumes are approx. 50 pp. each quickly expanded most volumes 125-150 pp. all illustrated. Uniformly light handling wear clean interiors nicely preserved. Also includes 1 Vol. I-XX 1-20 index issued 1985 2 Frostburg's State College: A Monument to Miners by Betty Van Newkirk published by the Council in 1996 and 3 4 duplicate issues and a second issue each of the index and Frostburg College history thus 52 volumes total.
