Approx. 1/4" square hole in center of front cover extending through interior to p. 7 title almanac first several pages of text with text affected fairly minimally bottom text block corner clipped through most of text block text unaffected. 1883005375Cincinnati Ohio: Not Published 1883. Unique As Issued and framed in period gilt ornamnetal frame under glass. Diploma with original seal and ribbon 18" x 22" in frame 22 1/2" x 26 1/2". Near Fine diploma a bit wavy 1" dia. spot of age toning. Signed by The President and the Secretary of the college along with the signatures of 10 Professors from the faculty. Dr Joseph Bowlby was born 17 Feb. 1854 in Rush County Indiana and died 28 June 1906 in Shelbyville Indiana. His practice was in Shelby County and Shelbyville Indiana from his graduation until his death. He served as President of the Homestead Building and Loan Association was a Presbyterian a Mason and a Republican. The Ohio College of Medicine located in Cincinnati was active from 1819 until 1896 when it merged with the Dept. of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. Text of the diploma in Latin printed by Strobridge & Co. Lithographers of Cincinnati. A quite unique piece of medical Indiana and Ohio history. Silas Emmett Lucas and published by Lucas at the Southern Historical Press. This book starts with a short history of Texas and proceeds to individuals who were important to the gowth of the state. 463pp. many illustrations and portraits. Individual biographies are one and a half to two pages. An excellent sturdy copy that comes to you in an acid free document bag for storage and mailed in a box.
