Text of the resolution of a lawsuit grought by the United States Govenment over oil-bearing lands in California granted to Southern Pacific Railroad. The Government argued that Southern Pacific knew the lands contained oil when they applied for them and fraudulently concealed this information from the government. The court found that these charges were unproven and dismissed the case. paperback books

The author and his wife natives of West Virginia traveled to Dawson via the Canadian Pacific Railway steamboat from Victoria to Skagway and the upper Yukon route in the summer of 1902. The photos and text offer interesting documentation of life in the mining camps as well as the more permanent settlements.
