The spine ends corners and edges of the book covers have rubbing bumping fraying and chips missing. The covers have noticeable spots of ground-in dirt and generalized rubbing. The lettering on the spine has started to rub. The front inner hinge has cracked. The text pages are generally clean but the book could use a good restitching as sections are loose. The rear endpaper is missing. The first twenty pages or so have spots of foxing. "Afterwards she Yelverton led an itinerant life and supported herself by writing about her travels. Francis Farquhar wrote that she "spent the summer of 1870 in Yosemite where she attached herself to the Hutchings family and made eyes at John Muir.
