Laid in is a note from the wife of the author ""Dear Tom Thomas Gates former Sec. of Def. - this was printed for a limited group who were definitely interested in our business but there was a demand & I had to have a second edition she means printing. I think you will be interested - don't feel you have to read it but it may encourage you to write up some of your much more important adventures."" Stated Second Printing. Quite Scarce. From a newspaper obituary found on-line: Jarvis Cromwell a finance executive and longtime civic leader in New York City died.He was 95 years old and lived in Hightstown N.J.Mr. Cromwell graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton in 1918 and went to work for William Iselin & Company a large factoring concern. Elected a partner in the 1920's he was an important figure in its merger into the CIT Financial Corporation in 1932. From then until 1951 he served as president of Iselin then a separate division of CIT. Next he became the founder-president of Iselin-Jefferson Financial Corporation which he built into another sizable.operation. It was sold to the Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company in 1971. Ten years earlier as a director of the Hanover Bank he played a central role in its combination with the Manufacturers Trust Company. self published hardcover

18583287Seaforth and Hanover: Unpublished manuscript book 1858. Hardcover. Good. ff 25 Oblong album missing rear cover with the calligraphic ownership inscription on behalf of ten year old Cromwell Stuart son of Peter Stuart of Seaforth north of Liverpool the Lancashire shipowner and lay homeopath. Cromwell Stuart was born in 1847 dying in South Africa at 22 with most of the inscribed pages dating from about a decade later. Presumably this was a gift from his parents which Peter took with him to Germany where most of the inscribed pages were undertaken usually offering a motto and inscription below sometimes with a drawing. Signers include Jose Francis da Sehra G J F Bruel Albert Knolcke Rothmeyer Ernst Sengstack August von Bothmer Louise Evers Magnus Mansfeldt F F Vollmer Marie Hogreive.
