Two volumes; 16mo; pp; I; iv ii 224; II; vi 198 ii index corrections; illustrated a double page map of the county a folding plan of the town an engraved title in each volume and fifty-nine engraved views in volume one and thirty-eight engraved views in volume two; the many engravings are clean and bright and many are from John Sell Cotman drawings; bound in full decorated embossed green morocco with marbled endpapers and edges red spine labels lettered in gilt; Images chosen to illustrate this piece are the boards showing the leather and the paste-down with bookseller's tag;. In each volume is an 19th century bookseller's tag affixed to the bottom edge inside the upper board from "H. Sotheran & Co. Booksellers 140 Strand London". There is an inscription on a preliminary leaf stating the following; "Given to me in September 1919 at Hemstead Hall by Mrs. Barker as a memorial of her Father and my friend Sir R. H. Ingles Palgrave who died in January of that year in his 92' year. T. G. Bonney".
