Full leather binding near contemporary probably with gilt title to spine on black panel and gilt decorations with gilt edges to boards. 204pp followed by plate pages. 18 x 11 cm. With 48 b&w engraved illustrations in plates including two folding maps of Surrey and Guildford and an engraved title page. The title page states 50 engravings including county map but this appears to be inaccurate ; none are missing and other titles listed by David Ford Books in this publisher's series of county books also have varying numbers of plates. However the binding done for Robert Ward whose armorial plate is inside front cover does seem to have ommitted a page of text as it finishes in mid-sentence on p.204 and the index. Due to this listed as Good only but otherwise this is a very good copy with generally clean pages and well bound occasional light foxing; the plates are bright with some foxing to margins; the covers have abraded edges and light rubbing to boards but are bright and clean. With 100 b&w engraved illustrations in plates including two folding maps of Suffolk and Ipswich at start of each volume of text plus the two engraved title pages. Note that this copy lacks two plates from Vol.2 : Eye and Hutton Hall and another small plate from this section is loosely enclosed at p22 rather than bound in: otherwise this is a Very Good copy with clean pages and tightly bound; the covers are lightly rubbed the gilt bright.
