Spiro Agnew humorously comments on his Chief-of-Staff Arthur Sohmer's extended lunches "When Arthur Sohmer went to lunch / The day was warm and bright / And everybody had a hunch / He might return sometime that night / But alas and alack / Arthur fell in the sack / And didn't awake 'til 'twas light". Agnew has crossed out a line above the last. Signed "Spiro T. Agnew". Near fine.</p><p>Spiro T. Agnew 1919-1996 served as Governor of Maryland from 1967 to 1969 when he was subsequently elected as Vice President under Richard Nixon serving from 1969 to 1973. In the midst of the Watergate Scandal Agnew was under investigation for Tax Fraud associated with brides he took while serving as Governor of Maryland. He pled guilty to tax evasion and was subsequently forced to resign his position as Vice President.</p>

Document with secretarial signature for the President by Rosemary Woods just one month before she revealed that she accidentally erased 18 1/2 minutes of the secret White House tapes she was supposed to transcribe for Congress. Authentically co-signed by William P. Rogers as Secretary of State. This document retains its pure white color with a gorgeous over-sized Presidential seal; Nixon's signature is slightly faded; diagonal crease on the lower right portion.
