Dent 1922-2019 was a textile manufacturer and he served as Secretary of Commerce from 1973-1975 bridging the Nixon and Ford administrations. Secretary Dent was an ardent supporter of President Nixon throughout the Watergate Scandal traveling the country to promote the economic agenda of the president. In 1975 President Ford appointed Dent United States trade representative with cabinet and ambassadorial rank. This document was executed on April 20th 1970 at The White House an addendum to Execu. Typed on one legal size sheet of paper mounted in white matte tape on verso. Full piece measures 17.5" x 11." Executive Order No. 11508 one of 346 issued by President Richard Nixon provided for the identification of unneeded Federal real property in the United States. The study took three years and found 345 federal properties comprising 57350 acres of public land which would be transferred to state or local control. An exceptionally scarce piece from the estate of Bryce N. Harlow with no other known examples of signed Executive Orders on the public market. Bryce N. Harlow 1916 - 1987 began his career in the executive branch serving as an administrative assistant head speechwriter and deputy assistant for congressional affairs in the Eisenhower Administration. In 1960 he was a speechwriter for Vice President Nixon's unsuccessful presidential campaign. With Nixon's election In 1968 Harlow was one of the first presidential appointments of the new administration serving as a congressional liaison and later Counselor to the President. Harlow was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1981 by President Ronald Reagan. He died in 1987. The White House unknown

He served as the Executive Director of the President's Committee on Government Contracts appointed by Eisenhower. Vice President Nixon was the Chairman of the Committee. Seidenberg later served as Chairman of he Federal Services Impasses Panel which settled deadlocks in federal labor negotiations.<br /><br />Nixon's first book was the result of encouragement from President Kennedy-- who Nixon visited in The White House only months after Nixon was defeated by Kennedy in the 1960 election--and said that a book would raise the profile of any public figure. Kennedy's book Pulitzer Prize winning Profiles in Courage 1955 greatly improved his public image. Ultimately this book went a long way towards rehabilitating Nixon's image after his presidential election defeat of 1960.<br /><i><br />Six Crises </i>presents six significant moments in Nixon's political career: the Alger Hiss Case; his Checkers speech in 1952; President Eisenhower's heart attack in 1955; the attack on his motorcade in Caracas in 1958; the Kitchen Debate against Khrushchev in 1959; and his 1960 presidential campaign. This is one of Howard Nixon's most important catalogues since it focusses on previously unpublished bindings and aims to describe and illustrate as wide as possible a selection of typical styles so producing a history of taste and design in European bookbinding. Nixon provides a wealth of information which is not limited to the particular bindings described but often relates them to examples in the British Library collection. Printed by Brooke Crutchley at the Cambridge University Press. Notably the 1930 British Empire aviator's certificate issued to Beatrice Garvan Sheridan and the 1932 Associated Press photograph of Amelia Earhart at a London dinner of the Royal Aeronautical Society where the typed verso explicitly identifies her as both the first woman to fly the Atlantic and the first woman guest at that event. One-page typed letter on personal stationery signed in blue ink discussing the sale and wholesale terms of Worthylake's aviation book and mentioning aviation circles in Oregon Washington Anchorage and Fairbanks. Worthylake writes "I retail my book for $4.95 plus postage if I have to mail it. I can wholesale it in lots of at least ten" later adding "That gives you a 40% profit in retailing" and closing "Happy landings" linking the letter to the afterlife of women's aviation through regional memory print circulation and the networks of the Ninety Nines.<br /> Women's aviation was not recorded in one form alone but through overlapping systems of recognition: news syndication elite aeronautical institutions licensing authorities and later veteran print culture. Minor wear toning and creasing across the group; certificate booklet rubbed at exterior; photographs with expected handling wear and caption remnants on versos; letter folded and lightly stained signature clear. Overall good condition. Earhart's presence as the only woman visible in the 1932 dinner photograph Sheridan's credential booklet with official seals and signatures and the captioned Nixon portrait all preserve different stages in the public legibility of female aviators while the Worthylake letter extends that record into the late twentieth century through women-led aviation memory and book distribution. unknown

No More Vietnams is a retrospective of President Nixon's experience with the Vietnam War. The paperwork from Warner Books notes that copy number 49 was presented to Rose Mary Woods. Rose Mary Woods 1917-2005 was the personal secretary for President Richard Nixon from his time in Congress through his presidency. She emerged on the national stage during the Watergate scandal when gaps were discovered in the White House tapes. She demonstrated how an erasure like this could happen by stretching from one side of her desk to another. This maneuver became known as the "Rose Mary Stretch" and was met with skepticism. After his resignation she followed President Nixon to California but returned to Washington to work on Capitol Hill. First edition privately published for presentation by Nixon inscribed by him on the front free endpaper "To Strobe Talbott with warm regards - from Richard Nixon 12-15-83". Strobe Talbott born 1946 was then Time Magazine's principal correspondent on Soviet-American relations. He later served as Deputy Secretary of State from 1994 to 2001 and as president of Brookings Institution from 2002 to 2017 an institution partly dedicated to securing international peace. Talbott's lifelong work in foreign relations and analysis make this a particularly appropriate presentation for Nixon's book on foreign policy in which he outlined his view of how lasting peace can be secured between the Soviet Union and the United States achieved through the US taking a much more assertive position with its military and economic power. Nixon published the work privately in September 1983. Publisher's Weekly reported that copies were distributed to 115 influential people 14 October 1983. A trade edition was issued in January 1984.
