Faithfully Janet Flanner November 13 - '72." The letter is on Ritz Hotel Paris stationery. <br /><br />A collection of Flanner's articles from The New Yorker for 1925-1939. Flanner 1892-1978 used the pseudonym Genêt and wrote on a wide variety of political and cultural topics. This collection edited by Irving Drutman has pieces on Josephine Baker Marlene Dietrich Mae West Sarah Bernhardt Picasso Gertrude Stein's art collection lurid murder affairs Paul Signac gambling the gathering clouds of war in the late 1930s and much more. <br /><br />An engrossing and entertaining look at Paris between the wars by a young journalist who wrote a fortnightly "Letter From Paris" for The New Yorker. <br /><br />CONDITION: Letter from Flanner taped to front end paper slight lean to spine minor rubbing to cloth internally a few small stains. The dust jacket's upper panel has some creases a short closed tear and a couple small nicks to the top edge as well as some foxing to the verso of the jacket. Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original business card signed and with autograph corrections by Ahmed Cevdet Oran. 5x9,5 cm. Printed texts and corrections in French; autograph signature and script in Ottoman script on verso. Business card is printed originally under the name and title of Cevdet with an address in Lausanne, however, Cevdet made two corrections on these like 'Hôtel Grammmont" and "Montreux". Ahmet Cevdet Oran was a Turkish publisher, writer, and journalist. As one of the first publishers of the Ottoman Empire, he has been known as "Ikdamci" since he published the Ikdam newspaper, 1894. He was the founder and editorial writer of the newspaper. It is one of the first representatives of the Turkism movement in the media. He is the first person to try rotary printing (done with a circular plate) technique in the press for the first time. Ahmet Cevdet had to leave the country after the 31 March Incident. He lived in France and Switzerland until 1923.

Des associations d’anciens combattants et les ligues d’extrême droite, Action française, Jeunesses patriotes, Camelots du roi, Solidarité française et autres Croix-de-feu ont manifesté pour protester contre le limogeage du préfet Chiappe à la suite de l’affaire Stavisky. Place de la Concorde l’émeute fit une trentaine de morts et plus de 2000 blessés. Cette crise provoqua la chute du second gouvernement Daladier. Un des 70 exemplaires numérotés sur pur fil Lafuma (n° 69) avec un ENVOI AUTOGRAPHE de Yves Dautun (1903 - 1973) à un ami non nommé : “Avec tout mon cœur et en gage de mon amitié fraternelle, accepte, cher grand ami, ce récit sans fard et sans colère, d’une Émeute dont nous avons, toi et moi, savouré en connaisseurs l’émotion âpre et subtile, Paris 1934.” Y. Dautun, né en 1903, sera rédacteur au Petit parisien. Il collaborera à La Gerbe à L’Émancipation nationale, au Cri du peuple, puis au Figaro littéraire de 1958 à 1968.
