Sheets measure approximately 19 1/2 x 13 3/4 inches 500 x 350 mm full margins. A twentieth-century luxury facsimile portfolio featuring celebrated views architectural renderings and topographical plates of the Campania region. The plates offer exceptionally crisp reproductions of 18th-century Grand Tour iconography capturing historic vistas archaeological excavations and cultural landscapes of Naples Vesuvius Phlegraean Fields Capri and the wider Campanian countryside. Paper portfolio case has some minor handling wear and surface soiling. Contents within are in very good condition. The Abbé de Saint-Non Jean-Claude Richard 1727-1791 was a French connoisseur artist and patron. Between 1781 and 1786 he published a massive five-volume masterwork titled Voyage pittoresque ou Description des royaumes de Naples et de Sicile. It was one of the most lavishly illustrated productions of the 18th century capturing the height of the "Grand Tour" fascination with classical antiquity and the romantic landscapes of Southern Italy. Saint-Non collaborated with top-tier artists of the era most notably Hubert Robert Jean-Honoré Fragonard and Claude-Louis Châtelet to sketch the ruins vistas and daily life of Campania which were then meticulously engraved by master French printmakers. "Know all men by these present that I Katherine Sackvlle of Bibury in the County of Gloucester have given and granted and do hereby give and grant unto William Easter of Arlington in the County of Gloucester Shoemaker leave and. to grant bargainand fill onto Richard Hall of Northlath in the County of Gloucester the Cottage and that part of the garden which was given and bequeathed by William Cooke Susannaht he wife of the said William Easter. Dated 1723. In the presence of Thomas Williams and Henry Boulton and the wax seal of Katherine Sackville. "Elizabeth Sackville was born in 1689 in Bibury Gloucestershire the daughter of Hester and Henry. She married Edmund Warneford on 18 July 1713 in London. They had one child during their marriage. On the left the pulpit reading-desk and clerk's desk a clergyman saying prayers the congregation kneeling on the marble floor one has a kneeling-cushion ; in the background the altar above it the symbolic triangle surrounded by cherubs with the words; "Agite veneremur supplices. flexis ante Dominum Creatorem nostrum genibus. Psal. xcv. 6." Printed title page small hole repaired. Dedication ends; "Tho. Parsel. Dabam a Schola Mercat. Sciff. Londoni Kalendis Quintilibus." Printed title. Clean Latin text throughout. A very good copy of an 18th century prayer book. Referenced by ESTC T140400 / Griffiths - Latin No. 19 "Thomas Parsell 1674-1720 headmaster of Merchant Taylor's School in London. Parsell's chief literary work was a translation of the Book of common Prayer into Latin. The Psalms Epistles and Gospels are described as being taken from Castellio's version the rendering of the rest being Parsell's own. The first edition was published in 1706." - See DNB.
