Two very clean very tight copies with bright unmarked boards, slightly dusty page edges, minor bump to spine foot of Vol I and no bumping to corners. Whilst being a matching set, the boards have aged slightly differently in their respective colours. Total of 616pp. Autobiography of the philospher, writer and composer who lived in the 18th century, mostly in France.

Page-edges of top and side spotted. Otherwise completely clean throughout. Text in Italian. This is Volume XXXI in the 'Pubblicazioni dell' Istituto di Scienze Politiche dell' Universita di Torino'. These are two volumes from the Siddal Edition, volumes 2 & 3, handsomely bound in limp vellum covers, with titles in gilt, and exposed green silk bands. The volumes are very clean inside and just light soil outside. Both volumes with a small neat signature dated 1901 and also the owners' small elegant bookplate to the inside front cover of both volumes. 6" high X 5" wide, 135 & 140 pages. Engraved frontispieces by Arthur Ellis and prefaces by W.M.Rossetti in both volumes. Volume 2 published in 1900. Volume 3 published in 1901. This catalog was prepared to accompany an exhibition held at Museum fur Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt, from October 30, 2009 to January 31, 2010. Andre Charles Boulle (1642- 1732) became the most famous French cabinetmaker and the preeminent artist in the field of marquetry in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Initially discovered by Jean Baptiste Colbert, Boulle spent his life working for the Sun King, Louis XIV, and other French royals. 121 works in the exhibition, about 75 of these are pieces of furniture or decorative arts. Also drawings and paintings. Almost all these works illustrated in color, a few in black & white. Also a section on 20th century furniture influenced by Boulle.
