Original artwork on paper signed Rose Graubart in lower right corner in ink; also signed faintly again by her in the right corner in pencil. Not framed approx. 11 3/4" x 17 3/4" size. Accomplished with black ink on light blue paper appears composed as a monoprint using a stencil or cutout for the main figures & block sections; raking light reveals added black ink for emphasis as well as fine lines within the figures. From internal evidence this ordination appears to be that of a Fr. John Keenan. Other associated images appear to be of relatives and friends some of which are also ordained religious nuns and priests some identified. Most of the photographs are held in clear six-to-a-page sleeves in a photo-binder of the time; most of the photos are approx. 3 3/4" x 5" size; some images are also laid-in loose and are of various formats with a few identified school photos. A group of 30 black and white Albertype-process postcards all with different images of this retreat-house monastery located in Garrison New York. Founded in 1898 the Society of Atonement is a Catholic Franciscan order that maintains various community outreach programs; their founder Rev. Father Paul James Francis Lewis T. Wattson is currently a candidate under review for saintly canonization. The cards have two copyright notices on their backs about half the cards with Ave Maria Hour and the Prayer of The Blessings of God's Poor Upon You printed in the stamp section; the others with the copyright of St. Anthony's Legion with the prayer of May Jesus Mary Joseph be With Us On Our Way. Images include Father Paul school the cloister walk Little Flower Friary living quarters pictures of the grounds landscaping statuary friars at prayer and play interior and exterior views of the buildings. All of the cards with short printed descriptions of the images on their reverse sides. Not dated; however the Fr. Paul card notes his death in 1940. The 'checkers' are die-cut disks of cardstock stamped in black or red with the H & D logo; they are still in their heavy cardstock sheet-holder and are all present. One reverse panel of the board with a color-printed pastedown giving information regarding the company and this product made by the "World's largest producer of Corrugated Fibre Shipping Boxes." In the Serie 1 packet and included in the count are 2 panoramas made of 2 individual images of the vast Rio de Janeiro shoreline taken from height. The images are approx. 2 1/8" x 3 3/8" size. The packet over-covers with a little wear; photos with only occasional silvering and are in very good condition. 192526575Texas: Not Published 1925. Donald Clinton Barton 1889 - 1939 American geologist son of George Hunt and Eva May Beede Barton was born in Stow Massachusetts on June 29 1889. He received a B.A. degree from Harvard in 1910 an M.A. in 1912 and a Ph.D. in 1914. Barton taught engineering and geology at Washington University from 1914 to 1916 when he became field geologist for the Empire Gas and Fuel Company. During World War I he was weather forecaster with the Meteorological Section of the Signal Corps. He was a geologist for the Gulf Coast division of Amerada Petroleum Corporation from 1919 to 1925 chief geologist for Rycade Oil Corporation from 1923 to 1927 and chief of the Torsion Balance and Magnetometer Division Geophysical Research Corporation from 1925 to 1927. He wrote many articles on geology and geophysics. He became research and consulting geologist and geophysicist for Humble Oil and Refining Company now Exxon Company U.S.A. in 1935. He married Margaret Dunbar Foules on June 26 1923. They had one daughter. Barton died on July 8 1939. ref.
