This copy is in poor condition missing both front and back covers and likely the last page of text. The book is well used the title page has edge chips and soiling. Internally it is clean and a very suitable working copy. This book has home designs in the Arts and Crafts style about one per page with a black and white picture of the house and a floorplan with measurements prices and descriptions. It is amazing to see so many familiar California style homes pictured with nothing around them! No other houses not many trees it looks like the company built one house to a block took a picture and then sent out the salesmen with this catalog. The book is profusely illustrated with detailed photos of building products interior pictures of installed products and line drawings. It has porch designs a beautiful section in color on parquetry floors plate and cut glass color illustrations of stained glass more than 10 pages in all styles and much more. Enchanted by the invention he studied the manufacturing process and was soon producing bicycles from a plant in Hartford Connecticut and championing the development of better roads to ride them on. By the 1890s the Pope Manufacturing Company was making about 250000 bicycles a year. But Pope recognized that the automobile was the way of the future. "In 1896 he founded the Columbia Electric Vehicle Co. in Hartford and a year later demonstrated the world's first public production model electric-powered car. His production of 2092 cars some gas-powered in 1899 accounted for nearly half the automobiles made in the United States" connecticuthistory website. This catalogue advertises five different styles Touring Roadster Phaeton Limousine Coupe of the company's 1913 Model 31 a gas-powered vehicle with a powerful engine said to embody "all of those features thus-far perfected and deemed essential to a perfect motor car." A handsome trade catalogue from this maker of tableware with most designs representing a form of Art Deco. The first plate is a selection of monograph styles followed by plates of silverware serving vessels and implements tea and coffee sets and decorative table pieces including centerpieces table lighting and vases. Of the loose plates four of them appear in a different style and bear the imprint "Imp. Faucheax et Fils Chelles". Some light wear and fading to gilt-printed pale blue wrappers. Internally near fine. 19304680Brussels Belgium: Affiches Marci 1930. Folio 38 x 33 cm 20 pages. Album containing 156 chromolithograph trade cards. In French and Flemish. Album produced for Côte d'Or customers to collect specifically the company's botanical trade cards. Each page contains an outlined area for eight specific cards with a description for each printed in French and Flemish. Full-color trade cards are pasted down and depict a wide range of flora fauna and fungi. Album contains the full set. Côte d'Or was founded in 1883 by Belgian chocolate manufacturer Charles Neuhaus. Both the company's name and logo an elephant surrounded by palm trees and pyramids recalls the African origin of the source of the cacao beans used in the production of chocolate. The company is still producing chocolate today. An incredible example of vibrantly colored and elaborately designed trade cards and the intersection of advertising and the popular hobby of collecting. Cards and album produced by Belgian printing house Affiches Marci a company established in 1819 and still in business today. In slightly rubbed and bumped boards with slightly fraying green cloth spine; the front cover features a full color illustration of the botanical cards with the company's logo and the back features slightly faded checked floral pattern.
