E la sfida continua allorché, scorrendo le pagine, sin dall'inizio dense di richiami classici, s'incontra un altro grande escluso della nostra epoca: ossia il mito, che della prisca sapientia è uno degli interpreti più accreditati. Certo, non è il mito comunemente inteso. Non è il mito letto come semplice affabulazione: come una favola nata da menti infantili e, quindi, adatta ai bambini che, a loro volta, lo abbandoneranno - con un ironico sorriso di superiorità - quando s'imbatteranno, crescendo, nella "cupa" religione della scienza e della tecnica. Il mito, invece, come prisca sapientia nell'intelligente lettura di Zucconi e Buffo - è un racconto fondante, in cui la conoscenza e la vita non sono separate ma strettamente unite, in modo che la conoscenza sia utile alla vita e la vita consenta un corretto sapere: in una evidente reductio ad unum.
