Badawi's (1905-1980) original doctoral dissertation, defended on January 29, 1936. The doctoral advisors were Prof. Grapow and Prof. Weber. Grapow replaced Prof. Sethe who died shortly before. Badawi received his degree in 1937 and a second doctoral in 1938. He later taught for many years in Egypt and from 1940 undertook excavations at Saqqara and Memphis. Beinlich-Seeber 2081.

It later appeared in "Journal of Ancient Civilizations" (1986) and an offprint of this publication, stenciled as issued, is the first edition thus of the work. Part II of Hannig's work appeared as "Pseudopartizip und sdm.n=f." (Hildesheimer Ägyptologische Beiträge, 32).
