2007028953St. Louis: Ransch Views 2007. INSCRIBED / SIGNED by Michael J. Flynn on the front inside cover. This is a first-person autobiographical account by Ray Flynn of his time as "the last member of the St. Louis Buster Wortman gang." His son Michael J. Flynn provides a preface and chapter entitled "Conclusion." Some reviewers say Michael or someone else must have added additional information that Ray could not have known about partly because it happened after he died in prison in 2002. A solid reading/reference copy in only Good condition. The cover is mildly rubbed. One corner of the rear cover is bumped/creased affecting a few pages at the end - but in the margin only - NO text is affected. Dog ear to the corner of three leaves. Flat uncreased spine. Bright and shiny. NO fading. Square and tight. NOT a library discard. NOT a remainder. Pages are clean and unmarked. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. Illustrated with b/w photos/documents in the text. Bound in the original white pictorial wraps printed in red and black. From a review: "From about 1960 on the first-person account of Ray Flynn's life in the mob is well worth the price of admission The publication is not worth the high price of admission neither is the writing. But then again Ray Flynn was not a professional writer so he should be cut some slack on that aspect of the book." From a different reviewer: "I have been searching and searching for years on the murder of my grandfather at the "hands" or at the "hit" of Buster Wortman. 53 years later after many hours of speaking to lots of people I have tracked down and numerous hours on the internet I see my grandfathers name in this book. It brought tears seeing this. Today I'm still in shock over it. I did enjoy the book otherwise.". INSCRIBED / SIGNED by Michael J. Flynn. First Edition so stated. Softcover. Good condition. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 165pp. Great Packaging Fast Shipping. Ransch Views Paperback

His endless client list included Meyer Lansky Nick Civella Anthony Spilotro Frank Rosenthal Jimmy Chagra Natale Richichi Nicky Scarfo and Vinny Ferrara along with many others. Though no further connection between Goodman and the Mafia has ever been proved the famous litigator has often been accused of being more than just a mouthpiece for organized crime. Was Oscar Goodman only what he claims an attorney who defended his clients based on the simple principle that they too have constitutional rights And if so how did he manage to mingle with the mob for decades without becoming part of it After scores of unlikely courtroom victories Goodman pulled off an even more unlikely career change. Twice elected mayor of Las Vegas he went from legal spokesman for the most notorious crime figures of our era to political spokesman for the most notorious city in the country.". 19112021Chicago: Pinkerton's National Detective Agency 1911. Very Good. 11" x 8-1/2". Circular printed recto only. White stock printed in black b&w illustration. Three holes punched to upper portion of leaf slightly affecting text; old folds. Wanted circular for Edward J. Tierney who according to a contemporary newspaper account "is the 'classiest' looking of all the criminals that the police have been asked to look out for" Bridgeport Times and Evening Farmer Feb. 23 1911. Wearing a dress coat in the photo provided for the circular Tierney worked as a traffic clerk for the Western Electric Company in Dallas before disappearing in November 1910. The reader is warned that he "might be found in the Shipping or Traffic Department of some electrical concern or railway office and he may also endeavor to obtain a position as a chauffeur or at some Vaudeville House or Moving Picture Show as he is a competent chauffer and a good singer as well." Oddly the 28-year-old Tierney is never implicated in a crime here nor does an initial review of contemporary newspapers reveal that he was ever charged with one much less convicted.
