brossura Il periodo storico esaminato, dei regni di Napoli e di Sicilia, viene sviluppato in maniera essenziale ma completa e corredata da numerose note a piè di pagina per fornire dettagli, commenti e collegamenti. Dopo un trentennio di successioni dinastiche si istituì il regno borbone (1735-1861) che a Napoli fu interposto dalla breve esperienza della Repubblica Napoletana (1799) e dal regno napoleonico (1806-1815) prima che il Congresso di Vienna unificasse i due regni nel Regno delle due Sicilie. Il collasso di questo si è realizzato, a seguito di un periodo rivoluzionario in cui, senza sostanziali aiuti esterni, non sarebbe bastata la potenzialità rivoluzionaria del popolo, per disfarsi del regime Borbone, nella vana speranza di acquisire riforme sociali da secoli vagheggiate. La conseguente annessione del Regno delle due Sicilie al regno sardo-piemontese fu seguita da eventi che segnarono la sensibilità del popolo meridionale. Vengono analizzati il prezzo dell'unificazione, le inchieste successive e il proporsi della questione meridionale.

The queens of that dynasty started as subordinates of the kings but ended as their superiors. Exactly when and how this change occurred has proven problematic for modern scholars. R. A. Hazzard argues that this change was put in motion by Ptolemy II, who glorified his sister ArsinoT and made acceptable a civilian style of kingship based on piety towards his real and mythical ancestors. Ptolemy's support and elevation of his sister inspired the queens of the line to assert themselves at the expense of their male associates. The process culminated in the absolute rule of Kleopatra VII after 47 BC. Hazzard presents a clear argument based on the numismatic, epigraphical, papyrological, literary, and historical sources.

Said Halim Pasa was a statesman who served as the Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire from 1913 to 1917. Born in Cairo, Egypt, he was the grandson of Muhammad Ali of Egypt, often considered the founder of modern Egypt. He was one of the signers in Ottoman - German Alliance. Yet, he resigned after the incident of the pursuit of Goeben and Breslau, an event which served to cement the Ottoman-German alliance during World War I. It is claimed that Mehmed V wanted a person in whom he trusted as Grand Vizier, and that he asked Said Halim to stay in his post as long as possible. Said Halim's term lasted until 1917, cut short because of continuous clashes between him and the Committee of Union and Progress, which by then controlled the Imperial Government of the Ottoman Empire. During the court martial trials after World War I in the Ottoman Empire, he was accused of treason as he had his signature under Ottoman - German Alliance. He was exiled on 29 May 1919 to a prison on Malta. He was acquitted from the accusations and set free in 1921, and he moved to Sicily. He wanted to return to the Istanbul, the capital of the Ottoman Empire, but this request was rejected. He was assassinated soon after in Rome by Arshavir Shiradjian, an agent of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, for his alleged role in the Armenian Genocide. Other sources, however, stated that he was unrelated to the Genocide. This intellectual study of him on self-experiences of decline and fall of Islamic world, view and thought. Extremely rare.
