Arrested by the Gestapo after he publicly called for Hitlers deportation, he was released and fled to Italy and then to the U. S. From 1946-49, he was chief prosecutor of Nazi political leaders at the Nuremberg Trials. He also helped assemble evidence for Israel during the Eichmann trial.
