Montgomerys third novel was praised by Lewis Carroll George Du Maurier and Vladimir Nabokov. Se was an English novelist that drew distinction between her stories for childre and her stories about children Misunderstood is the latter and was a very successful book one which is known for its saddening end and the tale of father and son. From the library of Kimbolton Castle at the time home of the Dukes of Manchester and also reputedly haunted by Catherine of Aragon who died in the medieval predecessor on the site. The boards have much wear knocks scuffing. The spine has wear and cracks all along the body and head and foot. However the boards and spine are effective sound steady. The end papers have storage marks and wear. The contents are pleasing and comfortably confident - especially taking the age of the book into account. The papertrims have shelving wear and tanning. The pages are healthy clean clear a little worn around the edges from handling and shelving bold companionable amenable often surprisingly fresh more than competent keen. fk. "The author was superintendent of the York factories Saco." An account of the machinery used in cotton mills and the relative merits of manufacturing in the United States vs. Great Britain. Because the work focuses on the spinning of cotton at mills rather than the harvesting of cotton at plantations the controversy surrounding American slave labor is neatly avoided.
