51-7111Rolduc Netherlands: 1883. Two Als. 1 1pp. In Dutch."Willem Everts was born in 1827 in Horst/Sevenum in North Limburg into a prominent family. He was the son of Pieter Everts a politician assessor in 1827 mayor of Horst and Sevenum from 1830 and mayor of Sevenum from 1837 and Maria Geertrui Houben a shopkeeper later landowner. From 1838 onward he received most of his secondary education at the minor seminary in Rolduc where he completed his studies in 1848 with the two-year "Philosophy" course. After several years of study at the major seminary in Roermond he was ordained a priest there in 1851. That same year at the age of 24 he was appointed as a teacher of rhetoric classical and modern languages at Rolduc. As was customary at prestigious boarding schools at the time the language of instruction was French and in the classroom as well if possible. From 1868 to 1893 he was also the institution's director. During those years he wrote a textbook for literature education that would be reprinted well into the twentieth century.He played an important role in the development of Rolduc as an educational institution.".Son of Pieter Everts and Maria Geertrui HoubenBrother of Maria Catharina Everts; Anne Gertrude Everts; Petronella Everts; Hendrik Mathijs Everts; Sebastiaan Everts and 3 others .Donald James Mackay was born in the Hague on 22 December 1839. He was naturalised in 1877 and succeeded to the title of 11th Baron Reay in 1881. From 1884-1886 he was Rector of St. Andrew's University. From 1885-1890 he was Governor of Bombay. From 1892-1918 he was Lord-Lieutenant of Roxburghshire. He served as Under-Secretary for India from 1894-1895 and from 1897-1904 as Chairman of the London School Board. In Ottoman script Old Turkish with Arabic letters. 54 p. b/w plates. Lacking covers minuscule chippings on extremities and slight marginal foxing. Else a fair copy. First and only edition of this rare Ottoman book including a short but complete early description of the formation of life on the Earth and the Solar System by a Turkish geographer educator and member of the Ottoman Education Council. In the book the author describes the formation of the Earth with seas and lands formed in three major geographical times and the major geological events based on the geological time scale a system of chronological measurement based on the study of the planet's rock layers stratigraphy. The next chapter includes the Solar System and the planets forming them Mercury Venus Earth Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus and Neptune and their compositions and structures. Earth formed about 4.54 billion years ago by accretion from the solar nebula a disk-shaped mass of dust and gas left over from the formation of the Sun which also created the rest of the Solar System. Nazmi describes 309 newly discovered planets until his time and he acquaints more than 500 stars that rotate around the Sun. In the last chapter a detailed account of the structure and composition of the Moon formed soon afterward possibly because of the impact of a planetoid on the Earth. Very good- condition.<br/> <br/> National Socialist German radio and television pioneer who served as head of propaganda under Josef Goebbels. He contributed heavily to programs concerning psychological warfare and developed the first Nazi Television Network. Inside a little foxing to title page and last few plates otherwise all pages in clean and bright condition the plates themselves are in wonderful condition bright and clear. A very good tightly bound copy of this study by Greenwell who was one of the founders of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers an active member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London. <br /><br /></p> E. & F.N.
