Whilst Hood was aboard he visited Fiji the Pitcairn Islands the Isle of Pines Somoa New Zealand and Australia. "Hood provides much detail on indigenous customs and includes his thoughts on polygamy cannibalism agriculture religion child rearing and relations with whites. There is also an interesting account of the descendants of the Bounty mutineers of Norfolk Island. An excellent descriptive narrative touching on most of the major islands of the Western Pacific" Hill. Octavo 222 x 141 mm.
